Bobby Smith and Rich Butler each had two RBI during a seven-run fourth inning and Kerry Robinson added two hits and an RBI, as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays held on for a 7-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers in a battle of split squads at St. Petersburg, Florida.

Smith had three hits and Scott Stricklin and Bubba Trammell also drove in runs for the Devil Rays.

Reliever Matt Ruebel picked up the win, despite allowing two runs and five hits over two innings. Starter Esteban Yan gave up two runs and two hits in two innings.

Kimera Bartee and Luis Gonzalez drove in two runs apiece for the Tigers. Starter Greg Keagle limited Tampa Bay to one hit over three scoreless innings before Matt Drews was tagged for seven runs and four hits while retiring just one batter.
