10am Sunday morning, January 23, 1994. Raleigh Police stops a 1993 Lincoln at Dunn Ave and Pullen Rd. (near Thompson Theater) because the car's inspection is out of date. Guy tells cop he doesn't have the registration either, because the car belongs to his girlfriend and she's got it. Cop says get outta the car. Dude hits the gas and heads down Dunn. When he gets to the Campus Bookstore, he realizes he's out of road and abandons the car. Turns out later the car is stolen. He runs onto the railroad tracks and the cops lose him.

Meanwhile, Fearless Frank pulls up to the rear of Broughton hall and notices a wad of cops all over the place. He happens to overhear the description of the bad guy over one of the cop's walkie-talkies. He proceeds into Broughton Hall, business as usual. After stopping off at his office, Fearless Frank goes up to the boss's office. He goes up the first stairwell (stairwell/west, not the one by the boss.) and walks along the upstairs hallway. While passing stairwell/east, he looks into it and notices a man matching the police description standing in the stairwell, on the landing (the 3rd-and-a-half floor). He goes into the boss's office, business as usual. Inside, he notices the boss is busy talking to someone else, so Fearless Frank leaves. Just outside, he is verbally accosted by the bad guy, who wants to know where the bathroom is. Fearless Frank points him to the 4th floor men's room, (right near stairwell/west). Fearless Frank then proceeds into the upstairs grad office business as usual. After a while, Fearless Frank starts wondering if he should do something. So he calls intelligent Jeff at home. Intelligent Jeff tells him to call the police, and then powers up his scanner. After pondering the situation a bit longer, Fearless Frank calls NCSU Public Safety. He tells them the bad guy is in the 4th floor Broughton can. Then, the guy that the boss was talking to enters the upstairs grad office, and Fearless Frank takes his cue to enter the boss's office.

While Fearless Frank was getting his daily chewing-out from the boss, a small army of cops (RPD and NCSU-PS) converges on the Broughton 4th floor. The bad guy by now is in the stairwell/west, on the 3rd-and-a-half floor landing. He sees cops coming toward him and he throws himself out the landing's window, head first. He gets hung up on the window ledge, which is most probably where his lung got punctured. He frees himself and completes his jump, landing on the sidewalk in front of Broughton, which is most probably how he fractured his pelvis. He tries to get up and run away, but cannot because he is structurally unable, at which point the small army of cops pounce on him. They take him to the hospital, which is where he is now.

Sometime later, Fearless Frank emerges from the roost, wondering what all the commotion is about. Today, he's been bragging on himself and calling himself a hero to anyone who appears conscious.
